Despite the fact that Manhattan Hide and Wool hadn’t been listed in the phone book since 1956, it remained the official company name until October 1959. At that point the company legally became Steel and Pipe Supply Company, Inc, officially announcing the beginning of what would become one of the largest privately owned steel service centers in the country today.
